Description:
This class prepares students to plan, coordinate and implement security measures for networking systems. Students initially learn the basics of repair and maintenance of computer hardware, software, and operating systems along with the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of network hardware. Then they are introduced to basic security principles involving networks and operating systems, including the current threats, vulnerabilities, and policies of electronic commerce. They gain an understanding of the principles of risk management, security architectures, incident handling, disaster recovery, and secure systems administration. Students track and patch security holes after a breach of security has occurred. Students gain skills required for certifications offered by Microsoft, and CompTIA, along with additional security certifications for Security Certified Network Specialist (SCNS), Security Certified Network Professional (SCNP), and Security Certified Network Architect (SCNA).
