CONSUMER INFORMATION
TUITION: For secondary students and adults under the age of 22, or over the age of 65, who live in Mid-America’s district, there will be no fee, This does not include Adult Only Classes, such as Practical Nursing and Short-Term Adult Classes. The tuition for secondary students who live outside the area school district is $5336.00 per year. The tuition for adults is one dollar per training hour. Adult students will be charged a $10.00 refundable deposit for each book checked out.
WITHDRAWAL PROCEDURE: All full-time and secondary students who desire to terminate their course of training must obtain a Withdrawal Record from the Administrative Office. This form must be completed and signed by the instructor, and then returned to the office, before the student receives official clearance from the school. Secondary students should also make arrangements for withdrawal from their home schools. For short-term class see policy below.
SHORT-TERM ADULT EMROLLMENT INFORMATION: Anyone 16 years of older may enroll in Adult Education Short-term programs offered at Mid-America Technology Center. You can enroll by mailing in an application along with full payment, in person between 8:00AM and 4:00 PM Monday through Friday, or by phone if paying with a credit card or debit card.
SHORT-TERM ADULT REFUND POLICY: Full refund is given for courses cancelled by Mid-America Technology Center. The school reserves the right to cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment up to the day the class begins. Upon request, enrollment fees are refundable less $5.00 if the student cancels before the third class meeting. There are no refunds on textbooks that were purchased. No refunds will be issued after the third class meeting.
SHORT-TERM ENROLLMENT DSICOUNTS: Unless otherwise indicated on in the short-term class brochure, persons over the age of 65 will be admitted into class without paying tuition, persons 62-64 years of age will be permitted to enroll for one-half of the total tuition. Persons employed with public schools or serving on local school boards located Mid-America’s districts will be permitted to enroll by paying only one-half tuition. Any supply fees or books must be purchased at full price.
SHORT-TERM ADULT CLASS CANCELLATIONS: Due to inclement weather an announcement will be made through the local media, school website, or automated calling system, or students may call after 2pm the day of the short-term class to see if the classes have been canceled for that evening. Please DO NOT assume if day classes are canceled that evening classes will also be canceled.
FULL-TIME CLASSES REFUND POLICY: IF A STUDENT WITHDRAWS, DROPS, OR FOR SOME REASON, FAILS TO COMPLETE A PERIOD FOR WHICH THEY HAVE PAID THE TUITION, MID-AMERICA WILL CALCULATE WHAT, IF ANY, REFUND NEEDS TO BE MADE.
Excludable costs from the total amount of institutional costs for the Practical Nursing Program are as follows:
(a) no refund will be made for consumed supplies
(b) no refund will be made for textbooks if not returned in good condition within 20 days of withdrawal
MID-AMERICA TECHNOLOGY CENTER WILL APPLY THE SAME REFUND CALCULATION TO ALL STUDENTS. THE CALCULATION WILL BE ACCORDING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION’S “RETURN OF TITLE IV FUNDS”. THE REGULATION REQUIRES A CALCULATION BASED ON THE ACTUAL PERCENTAGE OF THE PERIOD THE STUDENT ATTENDED. IF THE STUDENT IS A PELL GRANT RECIPIENT, IT WILL, IN MANY CASES, REQUIRE A RETURN OF A PORTION OF THE MONIES RECEIVED BY BOTH THE INSTITUTION AND THE STUDENT TO THE PELL GRANT PROGRAM. MID-AMERICA MAY CHARGE THE STUDENT FOR ANY MONIES WHICH THE SCHOOL MUST RETURN TO THE PELL GRANT PROGRAM. REFUNDS TO STUDENTS WHO ARE PAYING THEIR OWN TUITION, OR AGENCIES WHO ARE SPONSORING A STUDENT WHO WITHDRAWS OR IS DROPPED, MAY RECEIVE A REFUND IF REQUESTED IN WRITING.
EXAMPLES OF THE APPLICATION OF THE REFUND POLICY ARE AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. AN APPEALS PROCESS EXISTS FOR STUDENTS WHO BELIEVE THAT INDIVIDUAL CIRCUMSTANCES WARRANT EXCEPTION FROM THE PUBLISHED POLICY.
