| Physics:Students take General Physics during their first semester (fall) and Mechanics during their second semester (Spring). A fully equipped physics and computer lab will provide experiences and resources comparable to most universities in the area.The goal is to prepare students for the Physics C Advanced Placement exam in the spring. The emphasis is on concepts and problem-solving skills rather than rote memorization of formulas. We intend for the student to earn credit for Physics I and enter a university in Physics II.Click Here for Class Page | Calculus:The course provides a multi-representational study of basic calculus concepts using geometric, analytic, numeric, and verbal methods with the aid of computer programs for assistance in the visualization of concepts.The goal is for students to receive advanced placement credit for Calculus I and Calculus II and enter a university in Calculus III or an equivalent course during their first semester of college.Click Here for Class Page |
| General Physics:An algebra/trigonometry-based course. The curriculum includes motion in one dimension, Newton’s laws, work, energy, momentum, rotation of rigid bodies, fluids, electricity, magnetism, wave motion, and optics. | Calculus I:This course covers limits, derivatives and their applications, definite integrals and their applications, and transcendental functions. |
| Mechanics:A calculus-based course typical of what engineering majors take during their first year at a university. | Calculus II:This course covers techniques of integration, indeterminate forms and improper integrals, infinite series, conics, and polar coordinates. |
