Description:
This career major prepares high school seniors and adult students for Practical Nursing Program and to earn their certification in the health field with the Oklahoma Board of Nursing as an Advanced Unlicensed Assistant. The AUA performs an assistive role to the licensed nurses in a hospital setting. Students will build upon basic Certified Nurse Aide skills. Selected advanced skills such as EKG, legal and ethical aspects of health care, and appropriate behaviors are presented in a format combining classroom instruction, lab exercises, and clinical applications. Students must be 18 years of age to take the AUA licensure exam.

Hours:
Morning session – 8:10 – 11:10 a.m.
Afternoon session – 12:45 – 3:45 p.m.

Normal Completion Time:  18 weeks for full-time status
Prerequisite: Oklahoma CNA Certification
