COVID-19

Students:

We miss you. We know some of you are off enjoying Spring Break. My hope is no matter where you are now each of you have been resting, relaxing, and spending quality time with friends and family.

I have no words to describe the flood of emotions I have experienced over the course of the last week. I know I am not alone in this feeling either. Many of you have experienced or are experiencing them as well. I read a quote the other day that was fitting, “fear is an emotion, but being afraid is a choice”. We know that you have many questions regarding school, timelines, and the future in general.  This is what we know as of today, March 19.

All public schools, including Mid-America Technology Center are canceled and closed through April 6.  All events, including National Technical Honor Society, extra-curricular activities, CTSO activities, and field trips are also canceled through April 6.

Our teachers are currently working on contingencies and options for online/virtual delivery.  As you know, things are changing daily, if not hourly, we are trying to prepare for all possibilities at this time.  Your teachers may be in contact with you regarding specific instructions as they come available.

All of our buildings will be locked and closed to the public.

Please do your best to focus on your health. Look for positive personal enrichment opportunities and limit negative media/social media input. Stay connected with one another and family and friends (while also practicing social distancing), stay active by taking walks, exercising, and take time to relax, read a good book, binge watch those shows you’ve been putting off, perfect those videos and attempt to go viral. Follow the C.D.C.’s guidelines to protect and your family. If you become ill during this time, please contact your primary care physician.

Please let us know if you or your family have needs that we can help with.  We are in a time like no other, but I have no doubt we will all be better in due time. I trust our leadership to do what is best for our school, our students, and staff. Right now our leaders need our support and trust. Everyone is facing this together to do what’s best for our city, state, country, and world. Together we will be better.

Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the assessment that something else is more important than fear.” ― Franklin D. Roosevelt

Continue to be safe and follow the C.D.C. guidelines. Look for opportunities to help your neighbors and community.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
