MATC Assessment Center Makes Great Strides

Mrs. Amy Cornforth, Assessment Center Coordinator, reports the Assessment Center at Mid-America Technology Center had a very productive first semester, with December boasting a record number of CNA Clinical Skills tests administered to the Health Careers Students (HCE) in Mrs. Curry’s and Mrs. Wilkey’s classes.

54 Clinical Skills tests were administered in only five days due to the cooperation between the HCE instructors, our new Clinical Skills Observers Laryssa Couch, Practical Nursing Coordinator, and Sarah Raney, Pre-Nursing Teacher, and teacher assistants Elizabeth Amaya and Robin Hamilton. Many of these skills tests were able to be given simultaneously by utilizing the PN lab and the two classroom labs.

Also, during this time the Assessment Center continued to run full-time to administer other tests and certification exams to MATC students, Business and Industry Clients, and tests that we offer to the public.

The total number of tests/assessments administered for the first semester was 721, with 318 being given in December.

The MATC Assessment Center is able to offer several testing opportunities to members of our surrounding communities. Please visit our website matech.edu/assessment to see the tests offered, and for online registration click the red ‘Register Here’ button.
