Students in Mr. McGee’s new Veterinary Assistant class have hit the ground running. So far, they have had the opportunity to visit three area businesses where they were able to observe several different procedures.
The students visited Triple Heart Ranch, in Wanette, to observe Necropsies. Next, they traveled to Cedar Creek Veterinary Clinic, also in Wanette, where they saw dental surgery performed on a dog to remove a mass and a cattle hoof trim. Most recently, the students went to Pauls Valley to the Williamsburg Small Animal Hospital to watch a canine spay surgery.
Each of these field trips exposed the students to a wide variety of procedures and provided valuable learning experiences. The students would like to say thank you to everyone for welcoming them into their clinics, patiently explaining step-by-step while performing the procedures, and answering questions!
