Kelly Reed BISCert Pro Certified by CareerTech

Kelly Reed, MATC Coordinator of Adult Short-term Programs, was one of 10 statewide technology center staff members that graduated from the Business and Industry Services Professional (BISCert Pro) program offered by the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education (ODCTE) state agency.

Over the course of four months, this professional development opportunity, created and led by CareerTech State Regional Coordinators Lori Broyles and Cara Laverty Pattison, bought together a group of individuals dedicated to improving workforce and strengthening the economy in the state of Oklahoma.

“The goal of BISCert Pro was to give experienced professionals in the Workforce and Economic Development (WED) realm the chance to network and gain next-level knowledge needed to be state leaders with regards to economic development,” Pattison said.

Reed and her fellow BISCert Pro class members visited the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education in Stillwater, Tri-County Technology Center in Bartlesville, the State Chamber Office in Oklahoma City, and Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee, where they had the opportunity to learn from and interact with many of Oklahoma’s local and state leaders.

“Kelly is such a hard worker and motivated to learn new things about workforce and economic development,” Jarlsberg said. “She’s dedicated to improving our local and state economy, and her participation in the BISCert Pro program will bring us ideas in statewide initiatives and strengthen relationships that can open doors for workforce in our technology center district.”

Last year, the ODCTE trained 9,653 adults and 22,272 secondary students in career programs at 59 campuses on 29 technology center districts, 1,399 CareerTech teachers in 394 PK-12 public school districts served a total enrollment of 132,532 students. In the WED area, CareerTech trained 47,825 individuals in adult and career development, customized 226,505 industry-specific trainings, and offered 4,030 employees training for industry.
