Broadband Student Lands High-Paying Career Opportunity

Mid-America Technology Center Broadband student, Aiden Damron is proving that career training can launch students straight into high-demand, high-paying careers — without waiting four years to start building a future.

After attending Mid-America’s Career Fair this year, Aiden was offered a position with SRI Telecom, a company helping build and maintain critical broadband infrastructure across the nation. Even more impressive? He’s stepping into the workforce earning $24 an hour, working 6 ten-hour shifts, receiving time-and-a-half overtime pay, and earning an additional $150 per diem each day while traveling.

Aiden’s position focuses on racking and routing — the behind-the-scenes work that keeps broadband systems running. This includes installing and organizing network equipment, connecting fiber systems, and helping create the infrastructure that powers internet access, communication, businesses, healthcare, education, and economic growth across communities. As broadband expansion continues nationwide, skilled workers like Aiden are becoming more essential than ever.

This is exactly what Mid-America Technology Center is built for: preparing students with real-world skills that lead directly to life-changing careers. While many students across the country are still sitting in college classrooms wondering what comes next, Mid-America students are entering the workforce, gaining experience, and earning competitive wages in industries that desperately need skilled professionals.

Aiden’s success is more than a personal achievement — it’s a powerful example of how CareerTech education is creating workforce-ready graduates who are succeeding at the highest levels and making an immediate impact on Oklahoma’s economy.
