About Practical Nursing
At the Mid-America Technology Center Practical Nursing Program, you will find high-quality adult educational opportunities. Our exceptionally committed faculty and staff have developed a program that is designed to meet the needs of a diverse student body. Our Practical Nursing students learn in an environment that features state-of-the-art technology, including spacious laboratories that mimic the hospital setting. Our patient simulation training, along with classroom and off-campus supervised clinical experiences, provides students with a strong foundation on which they may build their nursing careers. Our industry-driven educational experience prepares students to provide quality healthcare after graduation. This adult program is a full-time course that begins in August and ends with graduation in May. Applications for admission are accepted from January until March each year, with specific deadlines.
The class of 2027 is set to begin on August 12, 2026, and graduate on May 28, 2027. It consists of intense classroom and clinical experiences leading up to eligibility to apply for licensure as a practical nurse.
The Practical Nursing course is nine (9 1/2) months in length and consists of 1450 clock hours. Each year, the program begins in August and finishes in May. Students interested in this program can prepare now by taking a medical terminology course for college credit or from Mid-America Technology Center, a Healthcare provider CPR course, and a certified nurse assistant course, all of which are required before classes start. The entrance test required during the application process is the Accuplacer, which includes Math & Reading.
Applicants must submit an official High School Transcript or GED scores, along with a birth certificate. Applicants are also required to complete the pre-entrance test, orientation, and personal interview. For additional information about the application process, contact:
Program Costs
Applicants are responsible for the cost of tuition, fees, and the purchase of additional required materials. The program costs for students are $7,500.00; of this amount, $4,537.50 is payable on or before the first day of class. The remaining $2,962.50 is payable on or before January 7, 2027. Program costs include all required e-textbooks, a laptop or tablet, laboratory training supplies, liability insurance, patches, a name tag, student organization dues, a graduation nursing cap, a pin, and a diploma.
Additional Costs
The student is responsible for additional costs including but not limited to: the medical terminology course fee, BLS for Healthcare provider CPR course fee, certified nursing assistant license, pre-entrance test fees, required uniforms, lab coat, shoes, watch, stethoscope, class dues, notebooks, pens/pencils, meals, transportation, admission physical, immunizations, drug tests, and criminal background checks. The student is also responsible for the NCLEX-PN review course fee and examination fee, and the Oklahoma Board of Nursing Licensure Application fee.
