MATC Students Named Recipients of J.W. Baker Memorial Scholarship

Two outstanding Automotive Service Technician students, Stroud Tucker from Little Axe High School and Trenton Ford from Purcell High School, have been named as the 2025 recipients of the J.W. Baker Memorial Scholarship.

The scholarship, established in the memory of J.S. Baker of Wayne, honors his lasting legacy at Mid-America Technology Center (MATC). Mr. Baker served as an adjunct teacher and was a dedicated supporter of the school for many years. His passion for education, especially in the trades, made a meaningful impact on both students and staff.

In recognition of his service and commitment to the success of MATC students, generous donations were made in Mr. Baker’s honor to create the J.W. Baker Memorial Scholarship. Each year, the scholarship supports promising students pursuing careers in technical fields.

Tucker and Ford were selected for their academic dedication, hands-on skill development, and strong work ethic–qualities that reflect the spirit of excellence Mr. Baker championed throughout his time at MATC.

Mid-America Technology Center congratulates Stroud and Trenton on this well-deserved honor and looks forward to their continued success in the automotive industry.
