HOSA-Future Health Professionals, a global student-led organization whose mission is to empower future health professionals to become leaders in the global health community, has elected Sataiea Simmons as the State Post-secondary Large School Representative.
Sataiea graduated with honors from Wayne High School in 2018. Upon graduating from high school Simmons attended college for a brief time but decided at that time college wasn’t in her best interest, and she began investigating other educational opportunities.
This led her to Mid-America Technology Center (MATC), where the Medical Office Assistant (MOA) program caught her eye, and now as a second-year student, she says, “It has won my heart!”
Sataiea became actively involved in HOSA right from the start. As a first-year MOA student, she became vice-president of her local HOSA chapter but, always one to push herself further, she set her sights on becoming a HOSA State Officer.
HOSA provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation, and recognition exclusively for students enrolled in health science education and biomedical science programs who have interests in pursuing careers in health professions.
Now, as a state officer, she says, “HOSA is filled with wonderful opportunities, and I can say I’m proud of how far I’ve come in my journey, and I can’t wait to see where and how far it leads!”
